THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSOCIATION OF VIRGINIA (TRAV) HORSE SHOW
AT THE VIRGINIA HORSE CENTER, LEXINGTON, VA
In line with its mission statement of fostering equine-assisted activities by offering educational and networking opportunities to operating centers and raising public awareness of the benefits of these activities to individuals with disabilities, TRAV annually offers educational workshops for its members and for many years has held an annual horse show at the Virginia Horse Center.
We also have a Therapeutic Riding Program which is the Galloping Acres Foundation that is Co-Sponsored by Hanover County Parks and Recreation.
This program is taught six weeks in the fall and two six week sessions in the Spring. Our program is offered to individuals with some cognitive, physical, or emotional disabilities. Participants will experience a wide range of benefits from increased flexibility and better balance to greater confidence and self esteem.
We are a PATH International member center. Classes are taught by Certified Instructors: Shannon Lawson, Julie Rath, Mary Helen Crowder & Forrester Potter
There are many ways that you can make a difference and help the Galloping Acres Foundation, Inc. in its continuing commitment to providing therapeutic riding to the community. Volunteer to help us on-site, contribute a monetary donation and/or provide us with much needed assistance through our Wish List.
Galloping Acres Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3, non-profit foundation. Through the generosity of people like you, Galloping Acres is able to continue providing these valuable services to the community. Monetary donations are used to provide scholarships and buy additional equipment. Donations of any size are warmly accepted.

PATH is a national non-profit organization that changes and enriches lives by promoting excellence in equine assisted activities. PATH promotes the benefit of the horse for individuals with and without physical, emotional and learning disabilities. Parks and Recreation offers over 1,500 acres of parkland throughout Hanover County, with beautiful trails, historic landmarks, athletic fields, relaxing shelters as well as safe accessible playgrounds. The Department boasts a wide range of yearlong events and programs for all ages and interests.
